Theme
One state requirement is that you be able to write about a literary work's theme or main idea or message or.......you get it. So let's try this. My guess is that there are a dozen easily defensible themes for To Kill A Mockingbird. What is yours? Explain. No minimum word requirement but it seems to me you've spent many hours reading this book and you probably have much to say. This is your chance to express your ideas about it.

The real Atticus
As Jackie so aptly put it: "Jim Crow came when they stopped slavery but the South got to do racist things anyway." Segregation and racism affected everyone in the Old Confederacy--the Southern States that continued to oppress Negroes with separate bathrooms, seats in the back of the bus, and other indignities. But everyone was corrupted by this system, even the Whites. Harper Lee's dad was no different. He was part of the White World of the South. From your research tell me about Lee's dad and how he compares to Atticus.

Truman Capote and Dill
The character Dill in TKAM is based upon a real person, Truman Capote. Please investigate this man, Capote, and write a 100+ word reply telling me who he was, why he was interesting and what was his connection to Harper Lee.
